1892- Mondrian entered the Academy for Fine Art in Amsterdam, already qualified as a teacher.

1911- Mondrian moved to Paris and changed his name (dropping an 'a' from Mondriaan) to emphasize his departure from the Netherlands.

1915- Mondrian, Van Doesburg, and together with related artists Bart van der Leck, Anthony Kok, Vilmos Huszar and J.J.P. Oud, they founded the magazine De Stijl in 1917.

1919 - 1938- Mondrian returned to France and worked exclusively with vertical and horizontal lines and with white, black, and the three primary colors—the strongest and purest possible contrasts.
